Matched on what’s in your wallet, not your CV.
Trades: free for ever, and nothing comes out of your day rate. Contractors: see who holds the right cards and is free on your dates, then book them direct for a flat fee, not a margin.
Trades never pay, not even for checks.
Nothing is charged during pilot access. The Free Workforce Check is not a legal audit.

If you're in the trades
Is there work near me?
Give your trade and postcode and you'll see the jobs and contractors near you. We can't promise work. You'll only be offered jobs you qualify for, and nobody takes a cut.
Does Skillmatch take a cut of my pay?
No. We don't employ you and we don't pay you. Nothing comes out of your day rate. There is no umbrella and no payroll. The contractor pays you directly. Contractors pay a monthly price and a fee for each confirmed booking from the network. Nothing comes from your pay.
Why build a passport before there are jobs?
A person checks each card, and that takes time. Do it now and you'll be ready on day one. It costs nothing and commits you to nothing. And it works today: contractors you already work for can see your cards are checked.
What do you do with my cards and ID?
A contractor checks your cards at booking, or Skillmatch checks them later. Your identity is checked with Stripe when you first show interest in a job. The firms you choose see your trade, your cards’ status and when they end, and each firm that books you checks your right to work itself. In matching, a verified firm you haven’t chosen will see only your first name, the initial of your surname, your trade and that you qualify, and you can turn that off. No firm sees a card number, an ID photo or your home address. One invitation text per number, ever.
What if you can't confirm my card?
The contractor who books you checks it, or Skillmatch checks it later. If a card can't be confirmed, you're told what to fix.
If you take on trades
How many workers have you got?
We won't give a number. We're new, so today it would be small, and a made-up one would be worse. That is why matching will show your own workforce first. It will be useful from day one, whatever the size of the network.
Will other contractors be matched with my freelancers?
Your list is not published. Your people will be offered your jobs first. Another contractor would see a first name and an initial until a booking is confirmed. But the passport is theirs. We won't lock them in.
Why not just use the free card-check apps?
Use them. CSCS Smart Check and ECS Check are the official way to confirm a card at the gate, and they are free. Skillmatch adds a record of your own right-to-work checks, what ends next across your whole list and who is free.
I'm not a director. Can I start?
Yes. A site or contracts manager can start a workspace for their team. We check who you are and a card in your name. Then you invite your own freelancers. Until a director confirms the company, trades from the network see it as a business that isn’t verified yet, and only those who chose to be found by any business are matched with you.
Does Skillmatch do my right-to-work duty for me?
No. You check right to work yourself, with a share code on the Home Office service or the original documents, and record it on the booking: what you checked, how and when, with your evidence. Skillmatch doesn’t check it. The duty stays with you. It is not a legal audit and not legal advice. Ask your adviser how this record fits your own process.
